Hello all,
Bruce Martin, KQ4TV, has successfully subscribed to the reflector.
I will be putting together the 222 gear here at home for inital testing
this weekend. I also have new antennas that arrived just today. It seems
AES put the M2 222-XP30's on a closeout sale (at least a closeout as far
as AES is concerned). These are basically 222-5WL's with a set of
vertical and a set of horizontal elements. The current AES price for
222-5WL's is $199. The closeout price for the 222-XP30's was $169 each,
but the price elsewhere was more than $300 each. I bought their last
five of these antennas. Eventually, (September?) I want to have a quick
assemble 4x H-frame array of these antennas with azimuth and elevation.
I bought the fifth one as spares and/or as a single for short range
stuff. I think I'll start with just two for the June contest on a
vertical mast. The vertical pattern will suffer a little, but it should
be quite usable.
I have the Elecraft DSP and trasverter interfaces that I will be adding
into my K2.
I am planning on bringing a server PC for GPS time and Writelog server.
I will have a separate 222 station PC. My rackmount project is turning
out just like K4SZ's microwave "coffin" project, too freakin' heavy! I
do not expect to have eveything in a nice neat rack for June, but I will
get this figured out.
Generator: I will change the oil and plugs on my gen-set this weekend. I
will plan on getting it up to K4SZ's place for noise testing on the
weekend of May 15 or 22. Which weekend is depending on how far I get
this weekend and on Bob's schedule.
Wireless internet and 802.11 networking: The 2.4 GHz dish antennas that
I had are gone for now. I have a Linksys access point, but no real
antennas. What else do we have onhand in the group? Paul, what kind of
access might we be able to get to that relay point before the contest
weekend?
I know I am missing a few details...feedback?
Later,
Brian
