[HOOPER] Check facts

I would like to know if these facts are correct:

James Monroe Hooper b. 12/15/1818 d. 6/7/1893 married (1) Susan Ann
Buckner b. 4/24/1829 d. 9/14/1868 married (2) Louisa Franklin Reeves
March 1865 (3 years prior to death of (1).  Were divorces customary in
1865? Or are my facts incorrect?

If Susan Ann Buckner lived to 1868, she never had children after 1857
(at age 28).  Was this customary in 1858?  Can anyone explain this to
