I think a lot of the computers out there are nearly the same, so be sure to
go for a big hard drive ( or 2), lots of memory (for processing ability)
and a CPU with a fast speed. .
Then I look for expandability, so you can add a second or 3rd monitor,
extra sound card, and so on and possibly even a "real" serial board with 4
ports, along with the usb ports, hopefully a couple accessed from the front for
the plug in junk like cameras and memory sticks..
And possibly even an "extra" slot mounted cooling fan. I hope this gives
you a couple of ideas in which way to go.

Time has come to buy a new computer for the shack and for radio related
activities (EZNEC, HAFTA, perhaps remote operating...). I'd be
interested in hearing what you think makes a KB shack computer and why.
I'm anticipating a Win 7 machine, my backup laptop is running XP. I'm
leaning towards a Lenovo laptop and docking station, but just started
looking.
I am running a K3 via a microKeyer II (K1EL inside), a W2 watt meter,
and working to get an amp inline to my vertical and dipole. Simple
station, but looking to expand. I'm using N1MM in contests, and will
expand to MMTTY and PSK31 when time permits.
Thanks
