1/2 our gridsquares are in a big ocean but on the other hand, we have Japan
:-)
from last year's ARRL 10m in Medium category:
Club # logs Tot score
1. Frankford Radio Club 32 14,018,274
2. Arizona Outlaws Contest Club 42 14,012,518
10. MLDXCC 24 4,928,000
MLDXCC scores from last year
suggest that with a serious push maybe 5,000,000 additional points could
have been added fairly easily, for a 3rd place finish. True, a given
Western station if transplanted to the E coast will do a bit better. . but
with numbers of logs and solid efforts W coast can do well. 50 logs would
help!
To their credit, NCCC did not drop 3 logs and enter in Medium cagtegory
(they would have won). Unfortunately, the large clubs are allowed to do
that within competition rules.
Regarding multipliers: Better Eu from East Coast but
compensate by higher difficulty for small Eastern stns in urban areas to
work nearby states.
These stns will lose mults; loss of nearby by state mults is less
important in West, especially because many MLDXCC stations in rural, quiet
areas.
In 2013, running low power, I was 2nd for MLDXCC and only a little behind
W1SRD.
There's limited or no interest from NCCC. I'
ll support an MLDXCC effort again this year and will of course toss a few
points in the ring.
For 10m I'll again toss up a 2nd fixed beam for US only to optimize Eu and
NA early in the day, and JA/US in the closing hours.
