I asked about this a year ago since I used to be able to renew my plates for two years and now can only renew for one year at a time. The DMV in Columbus told me that they have been asked by the FCC to require a copy of the license so they (the DMV and the FCC) can verify that the Amateur Radio license has not expired, or revoked.I argued with them that this information is available online to verify that the license is still current but they wouldn't hear of it. Maybe they will come to their senses one of these days.

Mary did that about 3 weeks ago. She noticed a note on the
back of the form she got in the mail to include a license copy
so that is what she did.
