K6STI's software:
Agreeing with everyone on software piracy, but thinking this has little to
do with STI's software. He had a pretty good although IMHO odd method of
securing his later versions, but as every software author knows to include
STI, WF1B, W5XD, AK1A, K1EA, TR, etc., piracy is part of the business.
In fact quoting a friend of mine who markets his program when I inquired if
he knew it was on a certain European Web site, "Its just part of the
business, the better the software is the more copies one tends to loose".
Ask Microsoft.
Most likely this had little to do with a DOS program, using a specific
SoundCard, going off the market. The truth is that programs come and
programs go, much like hardware. Wonder what happened to Dovetron, AEA,
Flesher, etc.
Besides software support for virtually free programs is a lot of work.
