[RTTY] Isle of Man GD on RTTY???

I just did a search for them on all listings on DXscape (try "GB4"..)....
the data just raises questions, no solid answers--

For some reason, 99% of the posts are from Europe (poor antennas? Beam only
towards EU? choose only times/bands with poor prop to (WCNA?)US? EU Wall?
running only QRP?) with only a few 1 or 3 calls posting from the USA. So
we're NOT hearing/working them in NA. There were NO posts from Japan which
also tells a story.

The distribution of the operating times of the postings seem to indicate
that this is a parttime op, not a true dxpedition with multiple ops/bands,
etc. (Past observation shows some percentage of people always post, so a
dxpedition operating shows up on dxscape)

None of the posted frequencies are in the digital areas on the bands...only
SSB.
Why? equipment problems? Lack of interest/op for CW or digital modes?

Perhaps some of their expected ops/equipment didn't make it?

I wish they'd run RTTY...maybe at a time when the west coast could work
them...

I been looking for this DXpedition all week but I have
not heard them.  The GD Isle of Man was suppose to
come up on RTTY which would be a new one on RTTY for

Following is the news release:
GD Isle of Man
Members of the Wrexham and District Amateur Radio
Society will be operating from the Isle of Man, during
the period 1-8 September 2004. The site that will be
used is Scarlett Point, a disused Coast Guard look out
tower, approx 1.5 Miles South of Castletown, Isle of
Man.
In the amateur radio world, the Isle of Man is
regarded as a “rare catch” as it has its own unique
callsign prefix, and its own unique Island number. As
such members of the Society will be operating with two
especially issued Callsigns, GB4IOM (Isle of Man) and
GB4SPT (Scarlett Point Tower), as well as individual
Callsigns, and the Wrexham Society’s callsign, to give
other Amateur Radio enthusiasts world wide the
opportunity to contact the Island, using as many
different types of communications methods as possible.
