All genuine messages from eBay will contain your user name, which is
confidential between yourself and eBay. However, that can only be a
first layer of security, because too many eBay names are not secure...
for example, amateur callsigns.
As a second layer of security, the only genuine messages from eBay that
you *need* to respond to will be about an ongoing or recent transaction.
As a third layer of security, don't even respond to genuine e-mails from
eBay. Instead, go to the website and log in. If the message was genuine,
you'll find the same message in your 'My Ebay' area, where you can
respond to it under https security.
