 I have owned a 2000 for several years and there is a easier way to let the fuel burn off in the Carb. on top of the gas cap there is a air vent switch that must be placed to the ON position or you will not get the generator to start. while running simply place the vent to off position- ful will not be able to flow and after a few minutes the engine and carb. will run out of gas.  It doesnt get any simpler!!
