GM Bill,

Though my scores do not reflect this excellent combination, for RTTY and N1MM, I have settled on using MMTTY with the extfsk.dll to a transistor (true FSK) switch on an old school (read db9) com port. In the config panel of N1MM, in Digital Interface (DI) point to MMTTY (installed to c:/ not program files). You can open 4 total DI windows, however, I only open a second and point it to 2Tone, installed in the same MMTTY directory. I also run GRITTY, which is RX only but the combo of MMTTY, 2Tone and GRITTY, it is amazing to see one pick of fragments where another captures everything. It flips back and forth between 2Tone and MMTTY and Gritty doing am excellent job pretty much all the time. Again, transmit is from a transistor switch setup in MMTTY to Icom accy port in back of rig. Icom does a great job with RTTY with its "twin peaks" RTTY filter. I think the key point is, once you use FSK vs AFSK, you can use 500Hz CW filters in most rigs, where AFSK only allows SSB filters.

Transistor switch info can be found at Rttycontesting.com or Don's personal site as well as the wonderful extfsk.dll for 32/64 or extfsk64.dll for use in 64 OS, I run Vista 64. This combo really works well.

Since this was my first RTTY sprint, I have been informed by John K4BAI, The phenomena I experienced is referred to as a "jump ball", very astute observation and an appropriate term. I think I should have more effectively used my VFO A/B as rereading the rules, make no mention that I cannot use another VFO to tune an "in close caller". Of course my timing is not developed in one event and as with my beloved CW, I shall now pen in NS Thursday for both CW and RTTY as opportunities for practice. Or more appropriately a very eager volunteer whipping boy! Haha!

I would give MMTTY, 2Tone and Gritty a test drive, works very FB here with N1MM.
