Cort,

K4BAI's FTDX5000 is being repaired by W6XA in the Atlanta area. See his 
web page at http://www.amateurradioservice.com.  I seem to remember we 
had a similar issue that you are describing with WW4LL's FTDX5000. (when 
he owned one)  I bet Paul, W6XA, could help you diagnosis you problem.
