[SEDXC] "Netbook" computer to operate contesting radio

Chris,

We used my Asus 1000HA and Dxbase (strictly for logging) during the
Battleship Alabama operation.
It was primarily a fone operation and I didn't have any rig control set up.

My feeling is that the keyboard is too small for a long contest. We used an
external keyboard and I was glad we had it.
I took an external monitor, but we didn't hook it up. We had enough people
to have operators and loggers most of the time so nobody got eyestrain.

I have write log loaded on it and it runs fine business. Haven't tried it
yet in a contest.
Of course no serial port and I haven't explored any of the USB to serial
options.

>From reading some of the dxbase and writelog forums, I know other guys are
using them with success.

Good luck and dx

Subject: [SEDXC] "Netbook" computer to operate contesting radio

Has anyone tried using the new "netbook" style laptops to operate contests,
general logging, and rig control?  I am not talking about the ones that the
cell companies are giving away, but the smaller, portable mini-laptops
(although I think they are probably similar).

After buying my wife a Macbook Pro, using my full size HP laptop, and the
desktop in my shack, I am still seaching for the most ergonomic way to
operate.

I haven't picked the new one up yet, but i was surprised it was so
economical.  Hopefully, this will be the "fix" to all my operating
problems!!!!

73's es gud dx,
Chris
