[SEDXC] A CFL Bulb Issue

Howdy John.
CFL is a "Compact Fluorescent Light". A CFL bulb has a glass tube formed
into what looks like a pig's tail with a regular base so it can screw into a
regular light bulb socket. Our Government is pushing to get us to buy these
CFLs or something similar instead of the good ole tungsten filament light
bulbs. As I understand, manufactures can no longer make a 100 watt regular
light bulb so better stock up whiles stores still have them in stock.
There have been quite a few articles written on the bad RF effects these CFL
bulbs have on ham radio. The ARRL did a study on them in QST a while back
but pretty much dismissed their potential to cause interference. Granted,
this bulb I have worked ok until it was ready to blow.
Hope this helps some.

Mack, N4SS

What is a "CFL" bulb and how do we recognize one without looking at the
lettering on it? Thanks. 73, John, K4BAI.
