This Week's Contests:
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z Fri.
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after one
intervening QSO. Look around 082 kHz and up from 1805 kHz on 160M.
2. NCCC NS Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z Fri.
15, 20, 40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule.
Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look
around 040-046 kHz on the upper bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
3. QRP Fox Hunt 80M. 0200-0330Z Friday (Thursday night local date).
Two QRP foxes will be calling between 3550 and 3570 kHz. 5W max power.
Exchange: RST, SPC, name, power. Work only the two foxes and do not
spot their frequencies. Foxes usually start out listening "up" so this
is good practice for operating split. They may listen on or near their
own frequencies near the end of the period when they may stop sending
"Up." Foxes are: K0DTJ, BRIAN, CA and NR3Z, MARTY, PA.
4. K1USN Slow Speed Test. 2000-2200Z Friday. This session has been
added to give the Europeans a better chance to participate. They will
principally be on 40M this time of year. But, you may work anyone,
anywhere. 160-20M CW. Maximum speed 20 WPM. Exchange: Name + SPC.
You can use your NAQP CW contest module, but you will need to recompute
to add any mults from outside NA.
5. CQ WorldWide WPX (Prefix) Contest. 48 hours of weekend UTC dates.
80-10M RTTY. 30 hours maximum operating time for single ops. Work
everyone. This one is really popular for RTTY ops.
6. Asia-Pacific Spring Sprint, CW. 1100-1300Z Sat. 40 and 20M CW.
Exchange: RST + serial #. Work only Asia-Pacific stations. There is a
one/six kHz QSY rule. You can run up to maximum legal power, but the
A-P stations are limited to low power.
7. Straight Key Century Club Weekend Sprintathon. 1200Z Sat to 2359Z
Sun. 160-6M CW. Use a mechanical key (straight key, bug, cootie,
etc.). Exchange: RST + SPC + Name + SKCC# or "NONE." Stations using
tube radios will add the number of tubes after their names, such as
"John3." Bonus points will be the total number of tubes reported by the
stations you work.
8. Dutch PACC Contest. 1200Z Sat to 1200Z Sun. 160-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: RS(T) + serial # or Dutch Province. Work only Dutch stations
(prefixes are PA-PI).
9. YL-OM Contest. 1400Z Sat to 0300Z Mon. All contest bands. CW/Dig,
SSB. 24 hours max operating times. Exchange: RS(T) + SPC. OMs work
only YLs.
10. OMISS QSO Party. 1500Z Sat to 1500Z Sun. 160-10M SSB. Exchange:
RS + S/P/DX + OMISS# if you have one.
11. Hamcation QSO Party. 1500Z Sat to 1500Z Sun. 80-10M CW, SSB.
Exchange: Name + SPC + expected high temperature at your location.
Bonus of 100 points for working all nine one-by-one special event
stations. The rules suggest you use your CWT Contest module. In the
space where you would log CWT# or SPC enter the received SPC and the
temperature in numbers. Do not put a space between SPC and the
temperature number. It seems you will not specifiy whether it is F or C.
12. K1USN Slow Speed Test. 0000-0100Z Monday, Sunday night local date.
Same as #4 above.
13. Colorado QRP Club Winter QSO Party. 0100-0259Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 5W max power. 20, 40, 80M CW. Exchange: RST +
SPC. Bonus points for working W0CQC or N0CQC.
14. 4 States QRP Group Second Sunday Sprint. 0100-0300Z Monday (Sunday
night local date). 160-10M CW, SSB. Most activity is on CW and seems
to center around 14060, 7122, and 3564 kHz. Exchange: RST + SPC + 4S#
or power.
Yes. Both QRP events are at the same time. The exchanges are similar
except the CQC event doesn't require a member # or power. My experience
in recent years is that CQC announces their contests, but almost no one
participates. Participation in the 4S Group events is small, but there
are always stations to work.
15. WorldWide SSB Activity Contest. Every Monday night 0100-0159Z SSB.
This one started out with a lot of activity and has just about dropped
off to nothing.
16. QRP Fox Hunt 40M. Tuesday night local date. See #3 above except
that the frequency range is 7030-7050 kHz and the foxes are scheduled to
be K4KO, GREG, TN and K7GO, LEW, MT.
17. Phone Weekly Test - Fray. This once popular weekly SSB test has
had activity drop to almost none.
18. CWOps Club CWT Mini Tests. Every Wed local date. Three separate
one-hour mini-tests. 1300Z, 1900Z, 0300Z Thurs. 160-10M CW. Exchange:
Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look around 023 to 052 kHz on the higher bands
and around 1815 to 1830 kHz on 160M.
If no one objects (let me know by e-mail if you do), I am going to stop
mentioning the WWSAC and Phone-Fray contest, since participation is so low.
Hope everyone has a nice week and week end. I hope next year we can
return to Orlando for HamCation and a contest dinner. 73, John, K4BAI.
For SECC.
