This Week's Contests:
1. NCCC RTTY Sprint. Every Thursday night local date. 0145-0215Z
Friday. 15, 20, 40, 80, 160M RTTY. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY
rule. Exchange: both calls, #, name, SPC. Same band dupes OK after
one intervening QSO. Look around 080-090 kHz on the higher bands and up
from 1805 kHz on 160M.
2. NCCC NS Sprint Ladder. This is the first week of a new NS ladder
series. Every Thursday night local date. 0230-0259Z Friday. 15, 20,
40, 80, 160M CW. 100W max power. One/one kHz QSY rule. Exchange: both
calls, #, name, SPC. No same band dupes permitted. Look around 040-046
kHz on the higher bands and up from 1815 khz on 160M.
3. QRP Fox Hunt 80M. Thursday night local date. 0200-0330Z Friday.
Two QRP Foxes (K4KO, GREG, TN and N7CQR, DAN, OR) will be calling
between 3550 and 3570 kHz. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, Power. Work only
the two foxes and do not spot their frequencies. 5W max power. We
should have a good chance at the TN fox and a slim, but possible chance
at the OR fox, as I have worked Dan on 80M in past years.
4. K1USN Slow Speed Test (SST). 2000-2100Z Friday. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + SPC. Mults count per band. Exchange: Name + SPC.
Maximum speed 20 WPM. You can use your NAQP CW contet module and add
any country multipliers worked outside North America and Hawaii.
5. CQ 160 Meter Contest, CW. 2200Z Friday to 2200Z Sunday. 160M CW
only. Exchange: RST + S/P and for stations outside US/VE RST + CQ
Zone. There is a club aggregate score competition, so be sure to put
your club name in the header of your Cabrillo log. If it is for SECC,
put exactly "South East Contest Club." There seems to still be no
geographical limitation so any club member whereever located should
submit a score for his/her club.
6. REF (France) Contest, CW. 0600Z Sat to 1800Z Sun. 80-10M CW.
Exchange: RST + serial # or French Dept # or French possession prefix.
7. UBA (Belgium) DX Contest, SSB. 1300Z Sat to 1300Z Sun. 890-10M
SSB. Exchange: RST + Serial # (+ UBA section for Belgian stations).
8. Winter Field Day. 1900Z Sat to 1900Z Sun. All bands except WARC
and 60M. All modes. Power multipliers. Exchange: Category + ARRL/RAC
section or "DX." Categories: number of transmitters simultaneously in
use plus location. Choices for locations are: I = Indoor. O =
Outdoor. H = Home Station. If a location with permanent station
equipment and/or antennas is used, it is a Home station. The Columbus
Amateur Radio Club will be QRV from Harris County, GA as W4CVY.
9. K1USN SST. 0000-0100Z Mon (Sun night local date). See #4 above.
10. QRP Fox Hunt. Tuesday night local date. 0200-0330Z Wed. 40M. Two
QRP Foxes (N4FP, WAYNE, FL and W9CF, KEVIN, AZ) will be calling between
7030 and 7050 kHz. See # 3 above.
11. A1 Club AWT Test. This is a new one sponsored by a Japanese CW
club. Every Wednesday morning our time 1200-1300Z. This makes it
immediately before the first CWT session. 160-10M CW. Exchange: RST +
Name.
12. CWOps Club CWT Tests. Every Wed/Thurs. Four separate one-hour
tests. Wed 1300Z and 1900Z and Thursday 0300Z and 0700Z. 160-10M CW.
Exchange: Name + CWOps# or SPC. Look around 025 to 053 kHz on the
higher bands and up from 1815 kHz on 160M.
13, Flying Pigs QRP Club February 40M Walk for the Bacon. 13 WPM max
speed. First session 0000-0100Z Thurs (Wed night local date). 7050-7065
kHz with the sweet spot at 7060. The next night, Thursday night local
date 0200-0300Z 7110 to 7125 kHz with the sweet spot at 7123. Exchange:
RST, SPC, Name, Power.
14: Straight Key Century Club Week Day Sprint Europe (SKSE). 2000-2200Z
Thurday. 160-6M CW. Exchange: RST, SPC, Name, SKCC # or "NONE." Use
a mechanical key. Work everyone, not just Europeans. From here
activity usually starts on 20M and moves down to 40M.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE NCJ NORTH AMERICAN SPRINT CW Contest will be on
Sat/Sun Feb 5 and 6. Jeff, KU8E, is getting up teams of two to five
hams for that one under the Southeastern Sprint Coalition banner. Please
email Jeff at ku8e at ku8e.com if you can participate and tell him if you
will be part time or full time and your expected power level.
Hope everyone has a nice week and weekend and a lot of QSOs. This is
the weekend for 160M CW activity! 73, John, K4BAI. For SECC.
