[Skimmertalk] can't find SkimSrv.ini

Bob,

 

the problem is not related to the registration, my name is indeed on top of the Skimmer Server window.

 

I have it working now, solved by installing SkimSrv on a different drive (D:\SkimSrv), I now do find the SkimSrv.ini in the default location (%appdata%\Afreet\Products\SkimSrv) and it is indeed being used.

There’s no way to make it work correctly from the default installation location; I have no clue what’s wrong.

 

Anyway the workaround… works so I’m all set, thanks for your help

Entering your registration code in CW Skimmer AGAIN (even though it shows as already registered) may help, especially if you don't see your name in the title bar of CW Skimmer Server.

 

To locate SkimSrv.ini (which may be in a VirtualStore folder), try the following:

1.	Start an Administrator Command Prompt (Shortcut:  Windows Key + X, A)
2.	CD \
3.	dir SkimSrv.ini /a /b /s

*	Uninstalled CQ Skimmer
*	Rebooted
*	Fresh install CW Skimmer, it came up already as registered

*	Change some parameter (telnet port)
*	Exit and restart Skimmer server: the parameters are back to default (config was not saved)

 

Looking for SkimSrv.ini in the usual directory, it is not there; only Spots.txt and TelnetSrv.txt

What am I missing ?

When moving to a new PC, first you have to install CW Skimmer (not the server), then enter your REGISTRATION CODE to register it, before CW SkimSrv will work properly.

1.	Exit CW Skimmer Server
2.	Start CW Skimmer (not the server)
3.	Select Help  | Enter Reg Key
4.	Enter your CW Skimmer Registration key
5.	Exit CW Skimmer
6.	Start CW Skimmer Server

Any changes you make should be saved in SkimSrv.ini.

 

To find your registration key, search for an email From: RegSoft.com or From: swreg.org <http://swreg.org>
