[TenTec] Re: Heil ProSet on Orion - reprise

Rereading my last post, I don't like the way it sounds. I meant to sound
surprised, not antagonistic! So, I'll try again because I think we have
a point of confusion.

Bruce mentioned in his posting that (1) his Heil adapter caused problems
with his ProSet and Orion, and what he described matched my symptoms
(i.e., not an RF problem). (2) he also talked to Paul Clinton, as I did
yesterday, and followed his advice to remake and adapter, which fixed his
problem. What is unclear in his description is whether he tied the PTT
return to the "cable shield" as he stated, or to the adapter shell (case
ground on the Orion) as Paul indicated to me. Bill notes that the "cable
shield" connection (which goes to Pin 2 on the Orion mic connector) is, I
believe, how the Heil adapter is wired (with both mic shield, single wire
shielded and PTT return wired together on Pin 2).

OK, hopefully that summarizes where we are in unlayering this one. I'm
hoping to nail the solution this weekend - it can't be all that
difficult.

        73, Duane
