The following is from a website about solar activity. This may not be
good news for 10 meters but it is great news for us Topband addicts!

"The graphics represent solar cycles 21-23. The red line is the monthly
smoothed sunspot number while the blue line is the actual monthly sunspot
number. Cycle 21 started in June 1976 with a smoothed sunspot number of
12.2. Cycle 22 started in September 1986 at 12.3. Cycle 23 started in May
1996 with the monthly SSN at 8.0. The last smoothed monthly sunspot number
is for May 2000 and is 119.0, down from 120.8 in April 2000. There is now a
very real possibility that the solar
maximum was in April 2000. If solar activity picks up a bit over the next
few months, August 2000 will become the most likely candidate. My current
(December 2000) prediction is that cycle 23 peaked in April 2000 with the
monthly SSN reaching 120.8. Any leater peak would probably not exceed this
value by more than 1-2 percent."
