Topbanders,

The March issue of Sky & Telescope has two really good 
propagation-related feature articles:

1) Anatomy of an Aurora - a technical description of how auroras come to 
be, including a beautiful picture of aurora australis from the Space 
Shuttle Discovery

2) Solar Storms: the Silent Menace - a good explanation of solar storms, 
damage caused by solar storms, and the Van Allen belts and their impact 
in the area known as the South Atlantic Anomaly (just off the coast of 
PY).

There's also a third feature article titled An Aurora Watcher's Guide.
