HEY GUYS.
A QUESTION OR TWO. aBOUT A WEEK AGO I TORE DOWN MY OLD ANTENNAS AND WAS IN
THE PROCESS OF GETTING NEW ANTENNA READY TO PUT UP. THE ROPE THAT HOISTED
MY WIRE ANTENNAS UP AND DOWN THE 90 FT TOWER BROKE SO NO HOISTING UNTIL i
CAN GET SOMEONE UP THE TOWER WITH A NEW ROPE. TO TOP IT OFF IT STARTED
SNOWING THURSDAY AND HASN'T STOPPED YET. mY ORIGINAL PLANS ARE ON HOLD AND
i AM DOING SOME QUICK ADAPTING. i HAVE A HYGAIN HIGH TOWER WHICH i MODIFIED
TODAY AND PUT BACK UP IN THE SNOW. I TOOK SOME OF THE THINNER SECTIONS OF
THE WHIP OFF AND REMOVED THE OLD INSULATORS FROM THE WHIP SECTION. THE
TOWER NOW CONSISTS OF THE BOTTOM 24 FEET OF THE TOWER WITH THE STURDIER
SECTIONS OF THE WHIP U-BOLTED DIRECTLY TO THE TOWER(NO INSULATORS). THIS
GIVE ME ABOUT 43 FEET VERTICAL OF TOWER AND WHIP. THE TOP SECTION HAS ABOUT
23 FEET OF WIRE ATTACHED TO THE TOP SECTION AND A 75 METER TRAP AT THE END
OF THE LENGTH OF WIRE. tHIS SHOULD GIVE ME A QUARTER WAVE ON 75M. THE
OTHER END OF THE TRAP HAS 70 FEET OF WIRE AND AN INSULATOR, i PLAN TO PUT
THE END UP ON MY 90FOOT TOWER AND HOPEFULLY WILL GIVE ME SOMETHING WHICH
WILL WORK ON 75 AND 160 UNTIL i CAN GET DECENT WEATHER AGAIN FOR THE
ORIGINAL PROJECTS. i FAILED TO MENTIONED THAT THE BASE OF THE HIGH TOWER
HAS ABOUT 80 RADIALS VARYING FROM 65 TO 75 FEET IN LENGTH. i CAN ADD SOME
LONGER RADIALS TO THE RADIAL FIELD FOR 160M AS NECESSARY. THE QUESTION i
HAVE IS HOW GOOD WILL THIS BE IN A TEMPORARY INSTALLTION???
