Noting the interest re qrm 160.I had a session with this noise a few months ago for a week or so.It has reappeared almost nightly for the past 3 weeks generally S3 or 4 at about 11.00Z gradually building to S7 and stays there all night fading away at sunrise.
My guess is it is there all the time at present, signal strength dependent on propogation conditions as some nights it is hardly detectable.I liken the noise to an idling diesel engine.
It quite often renders the band unusable for DX except for the stronger signals.
VK has been suffering very bad pulse QRM on 80 meters and the lower part of 40 meters for some months now.I don't know if there is a link with this and our present 160 problem.
If we have it S7 here, I feel sorry for hams closer to the source.
Let's hope it is only temporary.
