Last Sunday I began hearing TY5MR at about 2345 and tried calling until
about 0245 when I took a break. During that time the signal was never
better than 559, often ESP only.

I came back into the shack at about 0305 and the signal was 569...then it
went to 579...then 589...then 599..and then 599+ (and I mean just
that-moving the S-meter right on over!) with no QSB. I worked them at 0309
and the signal stayed at 599+ down to 579 until about 0325 and then
gradually faded away to 559 and below.

And to think I might have given up and gone to watch the tube! Just shows
to go ya!!

The thing that impressed me about theTY5MR op that night is that he would
send a call sign three times, listen and then repeat one or two more times
before sending "nil" if there was negative copy, and then going on to
another call. The QSB was so fast that often he just disappeared and
reappeared within a few seconds. Hats off to TY5MR for sticking with a call
until, in most cases, a QSO resulted. Hats off to "the mob" who were not
being naughty that night!
