Topband: Use of Remote Receivers During 160 Meter Contests

Oh my God, I had no idea that this would be seriously considered. Part of this game we play has to do with station building. Some can afford to have someone build it for them. Some do it themselves. Some spend the time working with neighbors and utility companies to minimize QRN. Some spend many hours building the best receiving antennas for their particular QTH. Some do not have enough interest or initiative do much of anything.

So for those who have devoted much of their time and energy to maximizing their capabilities, even moved in order to have a better QTH, it would be all for naught because someone with a checkbook and perhaps a little computer savvy will immediately surpass them.

A two way QSO in my mind is one where there is a transmitter and receiver located at the same place on both ends of the contact - not one where you transmit from one location and pipe the audio from a remotely located receiver through the Internet.

That provision of the TBDC is the only thing that keeps it from being the best contest. It might be anyway...for other reasons.

Yes, Braco, at the point in time when we even things up for everyone, we might as well have an Internet contest on Hamsphere. Perhaps there are too many people who have become accustomed to socialism via the repeater system, where everyone is given an equal signal regardless of your or your station's capabilities.

For the love of God, please don't open this can of worms!
