[TowerTalk] Field Day antennas

With Field Day planning getting into high gear, I find that the number of
questions I receive on light weight, easy to erect, easy to disassemble
antennas is on the increase (naturally).  I have added notes on the
G4ZU Bird Yagi to notes on the Moxon and other antennas at the site, and
I'll add others as the occasion arises.  Many of these antennas are not
well understood in terms of their patterns, some of which differ from
standard Yagi expectations.  Although different, some of these patterns
may be just what the doctor ordered for certain kinds of operations and
locations.  (Last year, one East Coast group used a Moxon for its broad US
coverage and rejection of European QRM during Field Day.)  So if you enjoy
tubing, wire, PVC, fiberglass, rope, and the like, some of these other
antennas may intrigue you.

Just have to add this note:  with all of the very serious discussion of
antenna mounting safety on this list, please take this attitude to Field
Day.  Some of the installations I have seen scare me to death, especially
when I see a 6-year-old with a hot dog underneath one of them.  One gust
could. . .
