Dale to Dale

I dont have any knowlege about First Call company as to their size
but you are correct, size doesnt mean much when we're talking
customer service.

I own a Tri-Ex WT51 tower. Its going on twenty years old now. The
reason I called them was to inquire about the crankup cable. I have
not decided to purchase a new cable yet because I inspect this one
regularly and find nothing wrong with it. In fact I think it's
stainless steel cable, there is no rust anywhere and no broken
strands. I found a web site,

http://www.wirerope.com/insgener.htm

which has some inspection criteria for inspecting wire rope. You may
want to visit it if you have a crankup tower.

If anyone has comments regarding the cable for crankups I would like
to hear them, I've heard some accounts of cable breakage but not too
many details, (rusty cable ect.). I dont crank my tower up and down
too much and usually the highest it goes is about 35 feet in the
winter. I keep it down during the summer storm season.

The big question is should it be changed only because its twenty
years old (time change) or should it be changed only when defects in
the cable are found??

Tnx

Dale J.
