I concur with the idea of NOT pinning the mast. I
attribute the fact that I have had a seriously
overloaded tower setup but no problems for about 8
years to the fact that my mast is not pinned. The
twist is what kills you.
Sometimes, after a big blow or a bad winter, I have to
go up and realign the mast, but that is easy. It
takes all of about 10 minutes.
