I received a lot of good replies to my question. The verdict is to
"do what the manufacturer says". I'll get the Rayovac charger.
Several responses said they have used the NiMH rechargeables in the
259B with good results.

I said in my original post:
The Ray0vac rechargeable alkaline batteries warn against charging
in anything other than a RayOvac battery charger or risk leaking or
rupture. Should I heed this warning or can I use them in the
MFJ-259B and allow the built-in charger to charge them?
