A possible exception, reported a few days ago by someone
else on the reflector, is an extremely high antenna, where
the nulls in the pattern seem to get filled in.

W3LPL (who has no shortage of antennas) told me a couple
years ago that his consistently best 10 meter antenna is
a single large yagi at 200 feet. He attributed its success
to this null-filling effect.
