Dennis,
1. Your aligning pin should fit into the larger hole, Once you have aligned
the hole for the smaller bolt and installed same then install the larger bolt
obviously in the larger hole. All bolts should be installed in all holes
before proceeding on up with the installation. Generally on this type of
tower we install the nuts on the inside, we do this so that we can slide down
the tower without hanging up on every nut on the way down. You however may
want to install the nuts on the outside so that you can easily inspect that
the nuts are still on the bolts after that big wind storm.
2. ALWAYS use A-325 structural bolts, these are galvanized bolts manufactured
especially for these loads. The grade 2 from the hardware store will snap and
any good tower hand can chew up stainless steel bolts and spit out staples.
3. Keep your tower plumb and guys tensioned during installation, be safe and
