Hi Rick,
  If they were mine i'd ditch them and use silver plated teflon
dielectric pl-259's. The nickel plating can be filed away and it might
not be a bad idea to tin the brass, but either way, they require more
heat. Silver plated teflon dielectric connectors cost about $1.00-$1.50
each throughout the south. After using over 1000 connectors, i see no
magic in Amphenol, but perhaps i've not seen every other brand in all of
creation. I personally dislike mica and bakelite dielectric(dark blue,
