Hi All,
My experience here is that it is best to both use a Hose Clamp and a rivet.
The Hose clamp is there to provide "all round " connection between the 2
tubes and the rivet to give that extra insurance. If you do the sums you
will see that with rivets applied to one side of a couple of tubes there
will be a 9/1000"
gap the other. Or 4.5/1000" if opposite side rivets are used. I think that
only using rivets is inviting longer term conduction problems hence here
where it I am guaranteed to get 100+mph winds over winter I put a 1.5" slot
in the outer tube, hose clamp it and rivet it once or twice. 73 Clive
