[TowerTalk] 300 ohm shielded cable

Actually CATV drop cable usually sports a copper clad single aluminum wire
for the center conductor.  Some specialty cable will be aluminum only for
the center conductor.  Drain wires aren't used because of the way the F
connector is attached.  The shield is usually dual (foil-braid) tri
(foil-braid-foil) or quad (foil-briad-foil-braid).

a wire like that in the foil is called a drain wire, and is the connection
for the shield.  A messenger wire is imbedded into the black plastic and
does not touch the shield. Can't say I've seen stranded with steel core
wires though. Usually catv cable has a single copper coated steel core, or
stranded copper. Any combination possible though, I gess.
