Tips I remember from assembly:
(1) have lots of steel wool on hand for de-burring all the tubing
(2) use the No-Alox with thin coats, but be thorough...just don't use a whole
tube on one end!!!!
(3) If you assemble the boom-to-element clamps incorrectly, be prepared to
replace the bolt and locknut...ACE Hardware carries the SS bolts as well as
SS nuts and lockwashers
(4) remove the balun cover, tighten ALL the connections, and use clear
Silicone II to seal the lid back on and goop the heads of the screws...the
box IS NOT waterproof
(5) as everybody mentioned, it's not a trivial task. Dedicate several days to
doing it
right.
(6) on the hose clamps....don't position them as instructed...put them as
near to the end of the split element end as possible. After you tighten them,
leave them alone for a day, then tighten them again, wait a day, tighten
again, etc...eventually, you won't be able to twist the smaller diameter
tubing inside the larger. Don't bother wrapping the hose clamps with
electrical tape....it doesn't work that well anyway.
That's all I can think of right now...good luck, it's a good antenna.
