Hello Rick
It seems like the state of Nevada or whatever agency has jurisdiction over your building permits has quite a few different ideas on how this is to work.I know they all do it different but thats not going to change. If your building department requires 2 signed/sealed sets of drawings, that does not mean they have to be from Trylon.Any state licensed engineer in good standing(in the state you desire to secure the permit in) should be able to do this for you. Also they may not want to see the calculations for the wind loads, base details, just that this application meets this criteria. My last set of plans (Nov.03)Say meets 140 MPH wind criteria and all other applicable codes. No calcs or any thing else on there. Now some reviewers can be picky and ask for these but most are not engineers and don't know what they are looking at any way! There has got to be an engineer in your area that does all this work no matter what.If it were not for these guys nothing would ever get perm
itted let alone built .Seek and you will find him.Try to find someone who is familiar with your local building department.A contractor or permit expediter. You gotta know the system if you want to make it work for you.And last but not least make a friend with one of the clerks at the front counter. These girls know the whole system and can make things slide right through. On the other side of the coin they also take an incredible amount of crap from irate customers. These clerks make very little pay for the abuse they take.I really don't know how they do it.I just know I could not put up with it.I'have sent many orders of coffee and doughnuts to city clerks just to say thank you.Whose stuff do you think gets worked on first the nice guy who is polite and brings coffee,or the nasty one who complains every time he enters the building?Keep trying persistance and knowledge are the keys to success!
Hope this Helps 73 Joe K4XZ
