Use your 20-30 MHz resistance meter then Bill.

At DC the resistance would barely change as it tarnishes.
It's only when the skin depth is at play braiding is bad.

This is similar to the reason Litz wire is OK at very low
frequencies but degrades system Q as frequency gets higher.
When the wire isn't several skin depths thick all the
conductors share current. Insulating them from each other
doesn't hurt much.
