Apparently it is difficult to find this cable reasonably.  
 
I have some  (1700 feet) 7 x 19 1/4 inch stainless steel cable which  is 
rated at 6400 lbs..just about the same as 1/4 EHS in strength..still on the  reel. 
 I will cut it to any length.  Priced waaaay cheaper than  
McMaster.....$.45/ft.
