[TowerTalk] Vertical in pond

I have seen pictures of AM broadcast stations that installed their antenna 
tower just above the water in a fresh water lake.  If there was no advantage 
to that why would they not just put their tower on dry land which would be 
easier to do?  I will see if I can find one of those pictures and list the 
url for it.
