Hi Doug, 

I'll put in the 3rd vote for WD40 and "greenies" type scouring pad. I wore a pair of rubber covered gloves while cleaning tubing. They were a little bulky but kept the hands cleaner. 

And THEN, for some reason, I didn't put them on. Hands got messy, but tolerable. just have to watch out for the burrs in the aluminum. Wrap a small chunk of green pad around a small dowel or phillips screwdriver to clean the inside of the tubing.
