Following on from recent comments regarding WRTC and the lack of
applications, and indeed lack of interest, from UK contesters may I
humbly suggest that one of the reasons why there have been so few
applicants is down to the fact that the general UK contesting fraternity
did not know how or who to apply to as it was never announced that
applications were being taken. The first most of us knew about WRTC
selection was when a posting was made on the WRTC reflector or the UK
contest reflector announcing the team.
I don't recall a message stating that the UK team selection had began,
the criteria by which the team would be selected, who to apply to and a
closing date for applications. Around the time Finland was selected to
host WRTC there was a suggestion that G4BUO might be the person to
contact, but that was never confirmed. As it turned out, HFCC were the
people to contact.
Let's face it, if getting a team together is such an onerous task,
perhaps an advertisement for applications in the various forums and
publications would make it easier. Surely the UK Contest reflector is
one of the obvious starting places.
