[UK-CONTEST] What switched mode 13.8V PSU?

James, and all

I have a Diamond 40A SMPS. The mains switch failed after about a year, and
was replaced. After about 18 months a power transistor failed suddenly (no
equipment was attached at the time) and W and S replaced the unit foc even
though it was well outside warranty. There is no rf noise as far as I can
tell (160m to 2m).

I also had a Lowe 40A SMPS. Inside it is very similar indeed to the Diamond.
It was much cheaper. It was noisy on 6m and 10m so it is no longer in my
shack.

Subject: [UK-CONTEST] What switched mode 13.8V PSU?

I am looking for some recommendations on a 13.8V switched mode PSU for
operating portable and holidays with my K2.
I have seen several on the market from:
Astron
Watson
SEC
Diamond.

Any thoughts? Or other makes I should consider?
I guess a multi input voltage unit 115/230 or similar would be more flexible
than a 230 only

Also I have heard reports that some switched mode PSUs can suffer problems
when connected to a generator that runs out of fuel and the waveform
lengthens from the std 50Hz resulting in PSU failure. Does anyone have any
inputs on this or should I just heave along the bigger heavier linear
supply?
