Sorry - thanks, Chris; and beg your pardon, John.

In an ideal world it would make complete sense for your own band data 
decoder box to use the same connectors as Yaesu. But since there only 
seems to be a single UK retail source for those connectors... and since 
it's Maplin...  you might want to think twice about that.

(By the way, the relevant sockets on the FT-1k and the TS-830 are both 
specials incorporating a switch, so they wouldn't be a cost-effective 
alternative.)
