Similar prob here Clive. Went to bed at 2100 Friday to try and build up some
sleep reserve that I hadn't managed in the week and slept till 0300. Went
tired at 0600 so had a further 2.5 hours, operated from 0830 to 2330 when I
decided to take a rest. Slept right through until 0730 !!! Don't even do
that on a normal night. I guess three days of manual labour working on house
improvements didn't help! On Sunday had a major problem with an intermittent
on receive. Sounded as though the antenna was becoming dissed. Had to give
up at 1600. Well that's my excuses for a paltry 1400 Qs.
What I really suspect is that it is no use starting to do 48 hour contests
in your late 50s. I needed to get into these things 20 years ago but was
never really that interested, so lifestyle dictates that Friday evening is
for relaxing not starting a contest at midnight.
I'll post some observations later but for now I'm off to do my French
homework. Chris G3SJJ

At around midnight Sat. I felt OK ( even after having to repair the inverted
L on Friday morning), and decided to try for the full 48 ( meal breaks
aside), but at about 01:30 I hit the wall, and just had to sleep. When I
woke up it was 08:30! That's unheard of me, and I never use an alarm clock,
so dunno what happened, Anno Domini perhaps.

Cdx c*** from the off, even on LF, better on Sunday. I expected 10 and 15 to
be off colour but 40m, what's going on? The propagation numbers look
reasonable; it's a funny old game!
TS870x2, Alpha 78 and SB220, WL10.5.
Antennas, crummy wires and verticals, all at 30ft or less a.g.l.
SO2R of limited benefit without decent antennas imo, but hey, you gotta try;
remember the dinosaurs?
Highlight, working D4B on 160m. Lowlight, missing the whole of the second
night, which wrecked my score.

Sex and drugs and rock and roll eh? Yeah right, I got the rock and roll, who
got the other two?
