[UK-CONTEST] A Gentlemanly Contest ?

A great idea Don - it would remove the difficulties with several logging
programmes that they don't handle "pre-booking" of serials well. However, it
might make a bit of work for a few software writers, for MS stations would
still need to know what had been worked on the alternate station (run or
mult) and so some integration would be needed through a network. I think in
some contests (haven't checked) it is currently the rule to have serial
numbers by band, so perhaps it's no big thing for the writers.

Would you need to ask that one series comes from the "mult" station and one
from the "run" or could they be interchanged ? I think the latter would be
preferable (although we use a dedicated mult station to avoid any
confusion). Would this cause problems in checking logs ?

Surely the key thing is that the sent and received data correspond - almost
regardless of what that data is (and provided, if we want to keep some
element of skill in the contest it isn't something like "59 14" as in
another well known test).

Only saw Bob's submission after my previous note. Cabrillo does indeed allow
you to show which transmitter is in use (by a numerica indicator at the end
of the QSO line).

In practie we will almost certainly move next year to separate serial
numbers for run and mult stations. This will overcome several problems that
currently exist. Comments would be appreciated.
