[UK-CONTEST] Revision of our Licence

I've been following this thread.

I can draw a parallel with the issues we have with PLT and the European
Commission.

The EU has said on many occasions "there have been no complaints (of
interference) so there can be problem". We KNOW there are PLT trial systems
out there radiating at high levels (they have been measured) but getting
enough people to lodge a formal complaint is really hard work.

So on the licence consultation issue, it is REALLY IMPORTANT that Ofcom
understands that there is a significant number of amateurs who have a view,
and who will need to be taken into account in determining the final
strategy. I also have the view that the people at Ofcom (overall - there are
a few exceptions) just do not understand either radio communication (the
technical aspects) or amateur radio. The old RA has been decimated, and
Ofcom is primarily lawyers and economists.

We need to speak up, chaps !

PS my response went in last week.

Well, I don't agree with either of you but that's just me. Disagreeable!

If we, the amateur community, demonstrate a lack of opinion on that which
will affect us, then decisions affecting us will be taken in ignorance, by
those in authority. We, the amateur community, will then get the screwing
we probably deserve.

I won't recite detail of the issues under discussion or argue the merits of
any particular stance but if you guys have read the documents from Ofcom and
the RSGB and have concluded this is not an important issue, then either you
don't have your thinking caps on or you're trapped in a parallel universe.

IMNSHO.
