[UK-CONTEST] Clusters again

I have to say that I am totally opposed to cluster use in single op
contests, other than in a separate assisted category.

But I suppose we could all write a computer progam that takes the cluster
spots and works them, and when not doing that just runs on a frequency
automatically ? Then we could all go to the pub, and the contest could carry
on whilst we're down there. (:-)

Surely the whole idea of a single op contest is to test the skill of the
operator ? By skill I mean:

a) Operating technique/speed
b) Propagation knowledge (viz BERU)
c) Ability to scan the bands aggressively for mults (or even QSOs)
d) Sheer stamina (for the longer contests)
e) Potency of signal (=skill in antenna strategy)

I suppose it could be argued that even with cluster support the above are
still relevant, but I really think that cluster is a soft option for single
op contests. I would argue the same for multi op, except that we're way past
that position now.

I'm trying not to be another Victor Meldrew, but really ........
