John,

SMC still use lots of 2 inch thick walled (7 gauge) aluminium masting 
for their military spec masts.   5 or 6 metre lengths.   Better still if 
you can persuade Aalco in Leeds to let you have an offcut! Tel: 0113 276 
3300.

SMC use the Southampton depot.
