Clive,
Understood exactly - it also reminds me of what I was saying in the CDXC
Digest recently. The Market Forces seem to always favour "everyone works
everyone events", and I'll now add in a sub-clause of "sitting on the same
frequency pressing F1, maybe watching the DX Cluster."
To me, the real downside is the potential loss of events with a unique
flavour e.g. the Sprint (maybe BERU in the future?) when they clash with
other contests. Whilst some "everyone works single country / region" events
may not be everyone's cup of tea, they're certainly favoured by some who
don't like the QRM of CQ WW type activity. We should be able to maintain
some of these types of events to keep a sound balance. We can vote with our
feet and support the events we want to, but that won't be enough to
counteract the masses and the casual operators "accidentally" supporting the
'work everyone' type event.
