Ah an interesting but somewhat different question. I have no
problem with copying an existing conversation while sending,
but I cannot speak at all. A grunt is about my maximum! I
know of ops who can do this, and they are those who were
professionally trained in CW which of course I never was,
being 100% self taught.
I do wonder if the problem of our subject on SSB is that he
is so accustomed to hearing his voice in the monitor, that
the distraction from another audio channel is too much, and
whether simply "hearing" ones voice via the "normal"
channels is more appropriate. The case that Alex highlights
may be apposite in this regard.
Personally I would counsel complete avoidance of SSB, and
concentration on CW ;-0
