My XYL like many of us probably think that Microwaves are for cooking!
Contesting on these bands can be fun Im told although I have to admit
that I
have never tried it! With that in mind I hope you will excuse the
bandwidth but some of you maybe interested in our event this week-end.

Sheffield Amateur Radio Club and the UK Microwave Group is staging a two
day
microwave convention and workshop this weekend (July 12-13). If you
are not attending the event you may like to watch everything on the Web
instead! The British Amateur Television Club's website at
<http://www.batc.tv/> www.batc.tv
will be streaming pictures and sound from the convention, hopefully from

around 0945 UTC to 1530 UTC on both days.

Peter, G3PYB (President of BATC) is one of the presenters at the
convention and has organised the streaming of the live event. We hope we

don't have any problems getting the video gear to work but if there are
any then please be patient.. we'll do our best to get this running
perfectly.

For reliable results, you'll need to have Adobe Flash 8 or 9 installed
on your PC and integrated with your browser. You can download this
directly from the Adobe website for free:
<http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/>

You can visit www.batc.tv right now and tale a look at the archived
stuff on the website. This includes a very interesting interview with
Steve Birkhill of SAT TV fame and also the Dud Charman (G6CJ) Aerial
Circus lecture. The archived videos are rather old (back to the '60s and

'70s) but are remarkably clear and easy to watch.

BATC's website has a very easy to use navigation column on the left side

of the screen. Click on Live Events to see the microwave convention
after 0945UTC this coming Saturday.

See you there.. literally!! I I will of course be wearing my new CDXC
badge!)
