The TS-830 seems to come out well on the Sherwood Engineering RX tests

miles ahead of lots of well-known recent rigs - see where the FT-2000 is for 
example. I used one years ago and the only negative was the high tuning rate 
which could not be altered - uses a permeability-tuned VFO I think.

I favour an FT-200 myself - all signals are S9 and there's always someone on 
your frequency, hi.
